“We ourselves feel that what we are doing is just a drop in the ocean. But the ocean would be less because of that missing drop.” - Mother Teresa My drop feels flawed and inadequate, but it’s what I’ve got, so it’s what I’ll give. Out here listening. Drip your drop, family. 💧
Christ have mercy. #blackoutTuesday “Lord, make me an instrument of thy peace. Where there is hatred, let me sow love; Where there is injury, pardon; Where there is doubt, faith; Where there is despair, hope; Where there is darkness, light; Where there is sadness, joy. O divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek To be consoled as to console, To be understood as to understand, To be loved as to love; For it is in giving that we receive; It is in pardoning that we are pardoned; It is in dying that we are born to eternal life.” - St Francis of Assisi
Please watch 🙏🏼 - whether you’re here in the USA or observing from outside it (with the utmost respect, it is not possible to apply your international context to this and get an accurate read on it ) - please, please watch this. I believe it will really help you, as it has helped me. Much love. Posted @withregram • @lucille_houston PLEASE make time in your day to sit and watch this start to finish. I promise you that you’ll learn some things you may not have known but NEED TO! LETS KNOW BETTER SO WE CAN DO BETTER. @dranitaphillips @christinecaine THANKYOU. I already know this is going to open eyes and change mindsets in Jesus name! Link to video on stories or go to @christinecaine ig.
“Courage is of no value unless accompanied by justice; yet if all men became just, there would be no need for courage.” - Agesilaus II If I care about succeeding in anything, it’s about raising these girls to be women of courage and women of justice, whose hearts are moved and grieved by what moves and grieves the heart of God, and who know they might be just one person, but they can make a difference. I am grateful to be part of a company of women who believe just this. @coloursisterhood
I highly recommend joining this conversation tonight if you’re able to (details in Dr Anita’s caption below ). I have sat within listening distance of these two conversing before and it was a game changer for me in gaining more understanding of this present, real-time issue in this country that I live in and love and yet (can I be honest ) am often deeply confused by. Like Dr Anita says, you may leave with more questions than answers, but the questions you’ll be asking will be the right ones. Leave your assumptions and bring your listening ears. 😊 This will help you. Posted with @withregram • @dranitaphillips The gears were already in motion. Last week @christinecaine and I started planning to have an honest, live conversation about race in the body of Christ. In my Monday night post I mentioned looking forward to sharing my thoughts about it. We didn’t know George Floyd then but enough had already long been enough. We didn’t know what today’s news would bring. We are still going to do this . _____ From its inception, the American church has been divided by race. In so many moments, when African Americans have cried out for justice, too often the church’s deafening silence broke hearts and grieved spirits, but something is changing . _____ We want to be able to remember this moment in history as when the end of this division truly began and an intentional journey back to what the Word says started : . “So that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other. If one part suffers, every part suffers with it.” (1 Cor 12:25-26 ) _____ Tonight @christinecaine and I will talk about what has kept the church divided for so long, how we can move forward, and ensure that we never go back. It’s time for us, as Christians, to all speak the same language. Body Language . _____ I think you may be surprised by what you hear tonight. Bring open minds and expectant hearts. You’ll leave with more questions than answers, but those questions will be the right ones. Meet us on IG Live at 6:30 PM PST/9:30 PM EST . . #BodyLanguage #Race #Restoration #SufferTogether #RejoiceTogether #StandTogether
I applaud Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey for his unreserved condemnation of George Floyd’s murder at the hands of police and for his impassioned emphasis on the value of Mr. Floyd’s life and the “failure on a basic human level” of those who should have protected it, not taken it. We need many more leaders to be as unequivocal if we are going to see change. We all need to take responsibility for influencing our own spheres, and graciously but firmly calling out what is sometimes blatant but often insidious. “Being black in America should not be a death sentence.” - Mayor Jacob Frey #regram • @christinecaine I used to sit back and see videos like this and think to myself, “Let’s wait for all the details to come out.” Now after seeing too many videos like this to name I’m beginning to wonder if my response should have been, “Maybe I should try to understand their pain.” Sometimes we can be so blinded by our experience and reality that we invalidate someone else’s. Today our black brothers and sisters are experiencing another trauma that communicates to them that their lives aren’t valuable. Centuries of reoccurring trauma takes its toll on a people group. Today I choose to lay down my preconceptions to learn from my friends of color. If we are truly the body of Christ one pain affects us all. We aren’t just the body when it’s convenient. We are the body when it’s hurting and broken. No more than the leg can disconnect from the arm can I disconnect my pain from that of my brethren. I’d like to share what I’m learning with you. On Thursday evening I’m going to do an Instagram Live with my friend Dr Anita Phillips and I invite you to join us. This has to change.
The lil’ pudgy-legged diaper-bootied low-gravity-centred run just about puts me over the edge 😍 Two is the cutest age! I’m cherishing it cos it’s flying by. [potty training update: my gal does. not. care. Mission abandoned. 😂 we’ll try again when she’s interested.]
I mused aloud on my stories late last night but shall memorialize it here for anyone to whom it might speak
Chalk, walks, kites, non-naps, tantrums, calm-downs, cuddles. 💕
HOW NOT TO SAY STUPID THINGS TO SUFFERING PEOPLE 🤗 I randomly stumbled across this last month from Kelsey Waghorn, a survivor of December’s deadly Whakaari/White Island volcanic eruption in New Zealand (my home country ). I thought this was so practical and helpful, given that it’s not entirely unlikely that we all know someone in the centre right now and/or have been there ourselves. We won’t love perfectly but we can do our darndest to love well (Rom 12:9 VOICE ). Fail upwards. Original article by Susan Silk & Barry Goldman, diagram by Wes Bausmith. (Thank you to commenter for the credit info ) #regram @kezzelsify I came across this online years ago and saved it in case I was ever “in the centre of the circle” 🙄 I didn’t think I’d ever actually need it. But here I am. It’s a useful reminder in times of stress where to point your comments that don’t comfort and/or support. Be kind, and stay safe x
Yah so his theology is pretty good I guess but his songs are the real gift to the world, now you know, you’re welcome 🌎 #tinyangelbaby #onlytwoyearsold #twinkies Posted @withregram • @nathanfinochio BEEN WRITING A TON DURING COVID. SOME IDEAS ARE BETTER THAN OTHERS, HERE’S A COUPLE DIAMONDS IN THE ROUGH THAT I HAD INITIALLY WROTE OFF, BUT AFTER GOING BACK THROUGH, YEAH I’M LOOKING AT SOME PRETTY SERIOUS SYNC OPPORTUNITIES FOR LOVE ISLAND UK.

What an extraordinary life. Scotty and I had the privilege of sitting in this very room at this very moment in the first part of the clip. What a joy to hear that strong, soft particular cadence deliver this message of messages with our own ears. It carries a new weight - no, a new glory - this week. We join with the multitudes to honour you, sir. Thank you and well done. #thankyouRavi (video by @passion268 ) *felt prompted to add this*: If you see this and don’t particularly care for Christ, firstly WELCOME, I’m so happy you’re here! Secondly, if you’re here already - why not watch this video the whole way through? I pray you sense the love of God for you. How tenderly He loves you and how specifically and wonderfully He has made you for a unique purpose! Thirdly - if you are sensing something stirring within you and desiring more of whatever “this” is, even if this desire co-exists with cynicism, skepticism or even disgust - I get it - can I, with all respect and affection, double triple quadruple somersault dare you to ask Jesus to show Himself to you? Silently is fine, with your mouth and actual voice (letting your soul hear it ) is better. ☺️ Then let the story unfold.

Woke up this morning with a few particular mamas on my heart. Those for whom today casts a particular light and shade on an unasked for heart stretch/heart ache/heart break. Those who will breathe through the seconds bravely, one at a time if necessary, grounding those breaths in hope. My friend Kalley (one of the mamas I woke thinking of ), bold and courageous, human and whole-hearted, wrote this today and it felt right to share. For every woman making her way through today. May Peace find you. 🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸 Posted @withregram • @kalleyheili They say motherhood is having part of your heart walk around on the outside, in the elements, wild and open. In my case, part of me is out twirling here on this soil through Elsie and part of me is dancing in heaven through Olive. The day Olive left I sobbed, saying it was all worth it for the 2 years 1 month and 10 days I had her here. It’s worth every one of the million tears, worth the vulnerability, the pain. Loving her is worth it all. What I’d give for my freedoms to be limited again by her, for my body to stretch and swell carrying her, for my sleep to be stunted, another epic Olive breakfast hunger strike and a “you guys have to share with each other or mommy’s gonna go crazy” chat. For another snuggle, another “I yove you”, a belly tickle mid-diaper change. My heart on the outside. But I can’t grasp white knuckle to Elsie for fear of losing. I can’t give way to regret, I can’t control or manipulate and call it safety, I can’t measure my love or calculate my heart to avoid pain. I won’t, because that’s not love. That’s not living. It’s a slow death on earth. Love and fear refuse to coexist, so which one’s hand am I holding? Do it right and you’re at risk. What other choice do we have? That’s being a mother, that’s selflessness, that’s choosing to live fully alive, that’s giving our kids the example they deserve of how to do this life. Being a mom is one of the bravest things that can be done, irrevocably putting your heart on the line. Love is worth that, always.
